What is the value of Small Groups?

Care Groups

Our care ministries exist to provide love and support to people who are struggling with life’s challenges. At one time or another we all need the help of others to see our way through a difficult time. Whether your struggle is physical, emotional or relational we are here for you and want to help in whatever way we can.

Home Groups

A Home Group’s Purpose Is... a relational environment for people who are strangers and acquaintances to become a Discipleship Family. The goals are to strengthen our connections with God, with each other, and with God’s Word.  We believe relationships are the best place for discipleship to occur. We have found that Home Groups create a safe place for people to journey towards a new, deeper, and life-shaping relationship with Jesus Christ and one another.

Truly being a part of a Church means participating both in our Sunday gatherings and Home Groups. Sundays are the time when we celebrate in worshiping our risen Lord Jesus together through singing, hearing the preaching of God’s Word, and partaking in communion. Smaller groups are necessary for the building up of the body in our relationships and life together. Both gatherings, the big and the small, meet different needs in the spiritual health and life of the Church.

IS A HOME GROUP LIKE A BIBLE STUDY?

Home groups are the place, where in the context of maturing relationships, we challenge one another to drive God’s Word deeply into our lives. Home Groups  follow discussion questions from Sunday’s sermon. In all cases, the Bible is central and geared toward personal life application and transformation rather than intensive Bible teaching.

DO I HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF HOPE COMMUNITY CHURCH TO ATTEND A HOME GROUP?

No. If you consider Hope your home Church, you are welcome to join a Home Group before becoming a member. However, we do stress the importance of becoming a member, not only because we believe it is Biblical but also because Home Groups are intended for those who call Hope Community Church home.

HOW BIG IS EACH HOME GROUP?

Our groups are designed and intended to be small enough for people to get to know each other. When a group grows to 15 or more people we strongly encourage a new group to be started out of that original group.

For women who have been hurt by the addiction of a loved one, group members in Betrayal and Beyond will be able to process their pain with others who can truly empathize. They will understand the true nature of forgiveness and how to establish healthy boundaries in their relationships. They will also see how the pain of another's addiction has deepened their own wounds from the past.
