What is the value of a small group?

Care Groups

Our care ministries exist to provide love and support to people who are struggling with life’s challenges. At one time or another we all need the help of others to see our way through a difficult time. Whether your struggle is physical, emotional or relational we are here for you and want to help in whatever way we can.

Sunday Morning Core Classes

What are Core Classes?

Core Classes is our adult education hour at 9 am on Sunday mornings that is designed to help every believer in our Church to grow in their knowledge of Scripture, to develop a biblical worldview, and to be increasingly able to apply the Gospel to every area of their lives.

We at HCC recognize that Core Classes are better suited to address certain topics than a Sunday morning service or home group. Our Sunday service centers around preaching which is a monologue and intended to reach more of the heart than the mind. Similarly, our home group ministries emphasize more relational goals with some discussion around the Bible. Our Core Classes, though not neglecting the heart, aim more at loving God with our minds. And while our Core Classes will include monologue, they will also feature dialogue which is a strength to the classroom setting.

Why Come to Core Classes?

Although this list is not exhaustive, we believe there are many reasons to attend Core Classes. First, because knowledge is foundational to discipleship. Certainly, someone can have knowledge and still not be wise, but it cannot be said conversely that someone is wise without knowledge. We want to love God with all our hearts, soul, strength, and minds. Second, they can help equip you with an issue or aspect in theology more than a sermon series can. For example, the subject of how to study the Bible or courses on evangelism, which are foundational to discipleship, are going to be more intellectually demanding in a class than through a sermon series. Third, they will allow you to get to know other members in the Church who you might not see regularly. We at HCC don’t want to be guilty of only caring for people in our home groups or our “go to” friends.

Ministry Groups

Throughout the year different ministries will be offering Bible studies and book studies.  Check the list often to see what is available.

Home Groups

A Home Group’s Purpose Is... a relational environment for people who are strangers and acquaintances to become a Discipleship Family. The goals are to strengthen our connections with God, with each other, and with God’s Word.  We believe relationships are the best place for discipleship to occur. We have found that Home Groups create a safe place for people to journey towards a new, deeper, and life-shaping relationship with Jesus Christ and one another. Truly being a part of a Church means participating both in our Sunday gatherings and Home Groups. Sundays are the time when we celebrate in worshiping our risen Lord Jesus together through singing, hearing the preaching of God’s Word, and partaking in communion. Smaller groups are necessary for the building up of the body in our relationships and life together. Both gatherings, the big and the small, meet different needs in the spiritual health and life of the Church.

If you are interested in joining a Home Group, please complete the form below.  The form consists of just two questions that will help us place you in a group. After submitting the form, you will receive a call from Pastor Aaron who can answer any questions you may have regarding home groups and placements.
