WHY MISSIONS?
Before He ascended back to heaven, the Lord Jesus left the disciples a pretty clear command in Matthew 28:18-20. After encouraging them that ALL authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him, the Lord then instructed His followers to GO and make disciples of ALL the nations, baptizing and teaching them to obey ALL His commands. The King of Kings then issued a very loving promise to those who would live in obedience to this mission. He said, “Be sure of this”, which means to take it to heart and count on it, “I am with you ALWAYS, even to the end of the age.” Not only does Jesus say He is with us throughout our entire journey, He assures us that He is with us ALWAYS, right here right now! There is no greater promise for the followers of Jesus who obey His command to live on mission!
At Hope Community Church we understand that we may not all be missionaries but believe that we are all called on Mission. We also believe that every square inch of the earth is a mission field. Some of us will take the gospel to the nations and some of us will remain and carry out the mission here while supporting the Lord’s work across the globe. Wherever the Lord calls you, GO!
