LIVING IN HAITI, SERVING WITH REACHGLOBAL (EFCA)...
Their heartbeat is to disciple ‘disciple makers’ and invest in leadership development through holistic ministry, seeking God’s wisdom as to how to ‘help without hurting’ in a country where aid has created dependency. Their focus is resourcing national partners through relationships, with the intent of empowering them to meet their own needs and the needs of their communities.
One very practical way they live this out is to provide physical help when needs arise, such as the most recent earthquake and tropical storm. Dave and Sharron live about 60 miles from the epicenter and had very little damage. However, they are in close contact with a Haitian pastor who lives in Les Cayes and is the Haitian contact person for the Global Fingerprints program in Carpentier (a community approximately 50 miles from the epicenter). Praise the Lord he reported there was no loss of life in Carpentier, however there was damage to structures including his church.
Currently the road is impassable due to landslides, so Dave is unable to physically go there to help. Although he will go when it is safe to do so, for now the focus is on empowering the Haitians to meet their own needs and the needs of their community. We can partner in that mission through our prayers.
