I like the introductions to every book of the Bible – usually about 3 pages in length – that can will give you important overview material regarding key themes, purpose, historical setting and an outline. Enough to equip but not so much as to overwhelm. I appreciate the verse by verse commentary throughout the entire Bible. I just LOVE the cross-references so I can look up corollary passages in the Bible and get a better understanding of what I’m reading.
